VALLEY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBER AND SAYS GOODBYE TO OTHERS

Derby, Conn. — The Valley Community Foundation (VCF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Attorney Bevon McLean as the newest member of its Board of Directors.

McLean brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the board, further strengthening VCF's commitment to serving the community, said Sharon Closius, VCF’s President and CEO.

"We are so thrilled to welcome Attorney McLean to our board,” Closius said. “His background and leadership experience will undoubtedly enrich our organization.”

McLean holds a Juris Doctor degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law, an MBA from Quinnipiac School of Business, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Albertus Magnus College.

Currently, McLean operates his own boutique law firm, McLean Law PLLC, in Shelton. His practice focuses on various areas, including Business/Corporate and Nonprofit Law, Real Estate, and Trust & Estate Planning. Additionally, he serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Bridgeport, teaching courses in business law and business planning. Before establishing his law firm, McLean enjoyed a successful career in mortgage banking, holding, among other positions, the position of Assistant Vice President for several prominent institutions such as Bank of America, SunTrust Banks, M&T Bank, Wells Fargo, among others.

“I am honored to be part of such an extraordinary Valley organization,” McLean said. "I look forward to contributing to VCF in any way I can and am excited to be a part of such a committed and focused team."

As VCF welcomes McLean, it also bids a fond farewell to four members completing terms and cycling off the board: Ray Oppel, Fred Ortoli, Angela Powers, and Marianne Smythe. Powers was also VCF's first President and CEO from 2004 to 2007.

"Their support, expertise and dedication to VCF have been the bedrock of our accomplishments over the past several years,” Closius said. “Their contributions have been invaluable, and they leave an indelible legacy of leadership and passion for our Valley that is almost unmatched.”
