¡Taíno Vive!, Caribbean Indigenous Resistance / Resistencia indígena del Caribe at the Yale Peabody Museum.

In collaboration with the Yale Peabody Museum and LEAD, the Progreso Latino Fund hosted a tour and community reception, created for learning, reflection and connection around ancestral knowledge, cultural survival and the shared responsibility of shaping a more just and inclusive future.

The gathering included a discussion with Stephanie Bailey and Luis Sanakori Ramos, facilitated by United in Solidarity for New Haven. Bailey and Ramos are exhibit collaborators and members of AraYeke Yukayek, a New York-based Taíno community dedicated to preserving and strengthening Taíno culture. The conversation was an invitation to interrogate, explore and reconnect with our indigeneity.

¡TAÍNO VIVE! is a bilingual exhibition that brings to life the story of a people once labeled as “extinct.” It examines the history of resistance and survival in the Caribbean and explores current Taíno movement in the United States. Learn more about the exhibit, on display through June 21, 2026, here.
